In the season of 1986/87, RTB (Ebbw Vale) became a WRU provisionary member taking up their full membership in 1989/90. In that season, RTB rugby broke away from their works association. RTB then purchased a run down social club (The Liberal) at Briery Hill. Players and committee alike set about restoring the building and the new RTB RFC was opened in May 1991, where today it serves the community for rugby, functions and weddings.
