Playing away at a team we've never met before can make you apprehensive about what you're about to face. Notoriously slow starters we soon found that Ponty weren't afraid to spread the ball & so found ourselves a few tries behind before we got a bit of a foothold in the game. As the half grew so the team saw some belief & some big performances started to emerge together with some decent structure in the set plays. 30:0 behind at half time the ever faithful parents/fans feared the worst but the team had other ideas. RTB soon realised their strengths today were most definitely in the pack. Some fine driving lineouts, a solid scrum & some barnstorming runs from Ben together with great tackling & jackling off the back row as a unit saw us move onto the Ponty line. A good line out move saw Ben King held up over the line but we weren't to be denied & after another move Ben crashed over with half the Clun valley hanging on for dear life. A cracking wide out conversion by Alex Hoey lifted the team no end & by the final whistle we were playing with smiles & getting right amongst anything that moved. The coaches & parents were all dead proud of the effort shown today & we look forward to next week with some optimism. Men of the match (chosen by the Pontyclun coach) were Ben & Tyler & the clubman was Aaron Flash Chaffey, we'll done to all of you.
