RTB Record Win!

On Saturday last, Blackwood Stars entertained RTB (Ebbw Vale) in Division 3A East league game. Before the game no one could have predicted the final result as RTB’s record book was thrown to the wind to record their highest ever win!
Blackwood Stars from the outset elected for ‘Passive Scrums’ as they were struggling for numbers. The game kicked off and it was evident as early as the third minute that Blackwood were in for a hard afternoon, as RTB opened their account through tries from the elusive Ryan Gardner, Tom Phillips, Ryan Stent and Craig Duncan all converted by Liam Butler. Blackwood Stars did score a well-earned converted try but they had no answer to a rampant RTB side as five more converted tries were scored before the break.
Half-time…. Blackwood Stars 7, RTB (Ebbw Vale) 61.
After the break things only got worse for the hosts as they lost two players to injury thus reducing themselves to thirteen players. In situations like this no one enjoys seeing the demise of such a talented side as Blackwood Stars, but RTB can only play against what is before them and RTB’s young side rattled another eight tries, seven of which were converted by Liam Butler.
The referee’s final whistle came as a relief to both sides and supporters, as in contrast, RTB have been in similar positions in the past where they have struggled for players and results and can only hope Blackwood Stars, can pick themselves up from their present position.
Full-Time…..Blackwood Stars 7, RTB (Ebbw Vale) 115.
Next Week......RTB's last home game against 'Top of the Table Caerleon.'
