Battle at Bailey Park

The RTB Steelers U10's faced local rivals Abergavenny in the delightful setting of Bailey Park. The game was a wonderful display of pathway rugby in a well refereed contest and showed that there is a great deal of talent available in the North of Gwent. As the game commenced, it was Abergavenny that had the better of the initial exchanges and made inroads into the 'Steeler's' territory through their dangerous centre partnership.Indeed a fine move down the wing, ensured that the home side took the lead in the first session of rugby.
As the game developed, the stength of the RTB outfit took hold and domination of the ruck area ensured plenty of ball, however handling errors meant that the domininance did not reflect on the scoreboard.

Eventually the resolute Abergavenny defence cracked and a couple of tries swayed the game in favour of the 'Steelers'. The score of 20 points to 10 in favour of RTB Steelers reflected on a display that warranted the victory.
Josh Davies capped a good week with a fine display, coupled with the great work put in by the hard grafters Mitch Parker, Liam Price, Cameron Boulter and Dylan Edwards. It was good to see captain Charlie Birch return after a month on the sidelines with injury and the sqaud is slowly returning to full strength after a period dogged by illness, injury and family commitments.
The group now prepare for a hectic end of season, three tournaments facing strong opposition from across Wales and a cross border tour provide great challenges to a fabulous set of players.
