RTB Steelers U10’s got back into the groove with a hard earned victory 20 -10 against a very well drilled Oakdale team on a glorious afternoon at Beaufort RFC.
Both teams showed great rucking skills in their first game under the new pathway rules and all players were a credit to their coaches. As always, defence held the key and the home side hunted like a pack wolves to limit Oakdale to two tries. Charlie Birch, Maxwell Gregory and Wesley Ives led the way with great support from Dylan Edwards and Jamie Reynolds. The game was evenly poised at 10-10 until the last third, when two concerted attacks by the T’s proved to be the difference. There is work to be done as players learn to adapt to life on a pitch without the coach to support, however this was a great start to what promises to be a very exciting season for the group. Next Sunday the group travel down the valley as we enter the Newbridge festival.
